The ZISA® Bronze Star and Certificate of Merit were awarded for Graycor’s safety excellence on power generation, refinery projects

The National Maintenance Agreements Policy Committee Inc. (NMAPC) held its 19th Annual Zero Injury Safety Awards® (ZISA®) Gala where Graycor Industrial Constructors proudly received two awards for safety excellence. This year’s ceremony—held on Oct. 24 at the historic National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.—honored nearly 29 million injury-free work-hours.

The safety award is the most prestigious given in the construction and maintenance industry to an elite group of union contractors, labor representatives and customers.

As part of a tripartite team, Graycor Industrial was recognized for performing a total of 412,114 work-hours with zero injuries on two projects in 2018. For work at Northern Indiana Public Service Co.’s Michigan City Generating Station in Michigan City, Indiana, Graycor, along with the LaPorte, Starke and Pulaski Building Trades Council, received the ZISA® Bronze Star for having completed 294,175 work-hours without a recordable injury. In addition, Graycor and the Northwestern Indiana Building Trades Council earned a Certificate of Merit award for achieving 117,939 work-hours with zero injuries in 2018 while performing the naphtha hydrotreater project at the Whiting Refinery in Whiting, Indiana.

The ZISA Award® is a tribute to the alliance formed between owners, signatory contractors (such as Graycor), and local and international unions who work together to achieve zero injuries on their industrial construction and maintenance projects throughout a calendar year.
