Graycor’s Oakbrook Terrace home office receives LEED Commercial Interiors Certification. The LEED Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED is intended to provide building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
The Oakbrook Terrace office was designed by Gensler and built by Graycor to be energy-efficient as per the LEED principles. Some of the notable sustainable features of the Oakbrook Terrace office include optimizing energy performance through lighting controls features. Daylight responsive controls and occupancy sensors have been installed in 100% of all regularly occupied areas. Lighting controls have been provided to enable all occupants to make adjustments to suit individual needs and preferences, and over 90% of workspaces have daylight views. In addition to the daylight saving features, recycled and regional materials (within 500 miles of the project site) were used for construction. Graycor also installed systems to reduce the consumption of potable water by more than 30% and green power is used for heating and cooling purposes. Lastly, a reclaimed roof line was converted to a 3,000 square foot landscaped terrace for employee and client use.
