Project Scope
The 17-month long dual fuel conversion project converted the capabilities of Units 1 & 2 of the Belews Creek Generating Station from coal fired to fuel burning. Our project scope included modifying the station’s capability to fire on natural gas with or without pulverized coal to enhance fuel flexibility without negatively impacting air emissions. Scope included 160 burners (32 new per boiler with 48 modifications per boiler), installation of 12,000 linear feet of piping, 96 burner control system skids and electrical and controls installation.
Graycor earned the 2021 National Safety in Excellence Pinnacle award and a National Excellence in Construction Pyramid award from Associated Builders and Contractors for the work on the Belews Creek Dual Fuel Burner Conversion Unit 1 project.
